Fairhaven is considered the crown jewel of Bellingham, and it was once a separate village on Bellingham Bay built on 19th-century maritime commerce. In August 2012, the Bellingham City Council approved the Fairhaven Neighborhood and Urban Village Plan, which outlines the neighborhood’s vision and guides redevelopment and investment toward the urban village concept.
